Marketing on the Internet
// October 11th, 2011 // No Comments » // Marketing on the internet
Marketing on the Internet requires an exceptional level of unique knowledge and understanding. It is an ever changing landscape as the major search engines continually refine their methods for ranking sites, pages and other content such as images and video. It is certainly not enough just to pop up a website and to blindly hope customers will swamp you with dollars.Most business owners these days recognise that they must be present in some form or another online and that marketing content via the Internet is now necessary in order to compete effectively but where does one start?
Unfortunately there is an amazing amount of hype that surrounds Internet marketing and people continue to be conned by ‘get rich quick’ schemes and ‘auto-pilot money machines’. Fortunately the fundamental rules that govern real-world business practice are actually pretty much exactly the same for the Internet. You still need to provide a quality product or service to a market that has a need or desire for what you are offering at a price that they willing to pay.
The opportunities that exist now for businesses to meet and service a wider audience than was possible just a mere 10 years ago is simply staggering. The various methods for promotion and options for getting before your audience are nearly limitless and as such can be overwhelming. Twitter, Youtube and Facebook represent a vast social network with over 1 Billion users that could potentially be interested in you products and services if you know how to unleash their potential.
If you want help in building a road map for furthering you business on the Internet we suggest you make contact. If you are serious about modern business and want serious results we’d love to talk to you and show you 3 key steps to help you get the most out of your business online.

Earthquakes Are No Good For Business
// August 1st, 2011 // No Comments » // General Broadcast
So, yes, we haven’t posted since late last year. There is a very good reason for this. We have not been wiped off the planet – completely – but we were very nearly.

You see Christchurch and the Canterbury Plains have been suffering from Earthquakes and Aftershocks (along with the associated liquefaction).
Not 1 but 3 major earthquakes and roughly 8000 aftershocks of varying magnitude.
Our office in the city is no longer accessible and everyone is now living the dream and working from home whether they like it or not along with roughly 20,000 other Christchurch CBD workers.
Working from home has it’s perks. The commute from bedroom to office is pretty quick and usually has very little traffic.
However, after the initial weeks this novelty quickly wears thin and the dangers of ‘cabin fever’ can become apparent.
Initially (of course) the impact of the earthquake had massive social and economic implications. There would be very few Cantabrians that didn’t know at least 1 (possibly more) of the 181 souls who perished in the February Aftershock.
Economically the impact was obvious at both a local and a national level. Businesses forced to close, job losses and the flow on effects from this. Slowly though there are signs now that businesses are beginning to get back on track and there will be a definite upswing in economic activity as the CBD and the suburbs goes about repairing and rebuilding. Advertising has noticeably increased in the last month or so as Christchurch businesses find their feet and go about letting everyone know where they have relocated to and how these events have changed them and how they now conduct their business.
So yes, the title of this post has been a little misleading. Earthquakes are no good for business. At least not initially.

Post Earthquake
// October 27th, 2010 // No Comments » // General Broadcast
Things have been more than a little busy recently (and as a consequence very few posts made here) following the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit Christchurch in the early morning of October the 4th.It’s quite alarming really how a natural disaster can turn out to be a good thing for business. Thankfully there was no loss of life.

Brain Farm, uses the world’s most advanced cameras to capture extreme sports as they’ve never been seen before.
This is just stunning video production work. Some of the best sports related cinematography I’ve seen.

48 Hours Film Competition 2010 New Zealand
// April 15th, 2010 // No Comments » // Competition, Film, Humour
Today I find time in the schedule to sit and spare a thought for hundreds of teams and possibly thousands of competitors across New Zealand who will compete this weekend to make a film in 48 hours.
I am judging again this year in Christchurch and look forward to a raft of pleasurable and not so pleasurable creations (which are still actually highly pleasurable in the context of the competition).
Take care this weekend and have fun.
